Head down to Marienplatz, the central square where you can see both the striking old and new town halls, sit in one of the square’s great restaurant or watch the quirky Glockenspiel with its 43 bells and life size figures re-enact stories from Munich’s history. Continue down the pedestrian zone to Karlsplatz for lots of shopping or head just east of the square to visit the spectacular Frauenkirche.
Munich has a number of great museums, including the extremely interesting and interactive BMW museum or spend the afternoon discovering the treasures within the Residenzmuseum. With beautiful churches and landmarks, there is so much to see and explore within the city, however take a break in the English Gardens, Germany’s largest park which boasts over 100 bridges and tranquil sunbathing and picnic spots.From here you can explore Bavaria which is full of beautiful castles, lakes and traditional villages for you to discover. Want to go further afield; then Munich is also a great starting place to explore more of central Europe with easy access to other European greats like Prague and Vienna.
